A Poem for Dr. Eileen Phillips

With great appreciation, we pause a moment here,

To reminisce over these past five years,

Your leadership – an inspiration to one and all –

Most encouraged the children who will long recall,

Your words of confidence, kindness and care,

And a reminder to all of the responsibilities you bear.

With determination and foresight, you guided our school

Bringing us closer and your wisdom a renewal,

Of the things we cherish and aspire of:

Respect, sharing, and most of all love.

You took the time to meet each student,

To know each family, with advice always prudent,

You considered their concerns, their cares, their worries,

And resolved any difficulties, in a most proficient hurry.

So we thank you for your devotion to child and school,

For equipping each student with the necessary tools,

For their future success in one and all endeavours,

For lessons taught that will last forever.

In closing, let us say it is not goodbye,

But until we meet again, as in the future we try,

To reflect on your words that revealed to us why,

We should always aspire to reach goals so high.
