Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are Mary Ann Lo & Tim Luu, the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Co-Chairs. On behalf of the PAC executives, we would like to extend a warm welcome to returning students and parents, and a special welcome to students and parents who are new to our wonderful school.

As a parent/guardian of a Maple Grove student, you are automatically a member of the PAC. You will receive news and updates from the PAC. We want you to attend PAC meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, to have your voice and concerns heard, to vote to approve budgets and special resolutions, to meet and spend some quality time (delicious refreshments) with other parents and to enjoy parent education opportunities.

Each year PAC has raised funds for projects not covered by the Vancouver Board of Education budget. This has provided funding for library books, performances at student assemblies; classroom allowances; purchase of computers; Action BC healthy school. We also recently completed fundraising and installation of two brand new playgrounds at a total cost of over $130,000. We will continue to raise funds for similar projects.

This year we’ve initiated plans to develop some exciting programs for MG students and families in sports/physical activities, arts & music, 2010 Olympic themed activities and lunchtime/after school programs. In order to succeed in these exciting activities and programs, we need your support and involvement.
 
You play an essential role in your child’s success here at Maple Grove. So “get involved”! Here is what you can do:
– Submit your email and contact information to your Class Parent.
– Set aside two hours of each month to attend PAC meetings.
– Come out to participate in all PAC organized fun-filled events.
– Get involved and support the new programs that are being created
– Review the volunteer signup form and sign up for an opportunity that suits you
